Ikioi is a love story set in an Edo period pleasure court. During a visit to his lover Shosho, the young samurai Goro takes sight of this father's assassin, Kudo Suketsune. As Goro seeks avange on his father, Shosho grabs him and begs him not to go. To persuade Goro, she feigns ignorance of the situation and pretends to be jealous and that she fears Goro is going after another woman.
